Vecchio Engineering Oxygen O2 Lambda Sensor 22mm 3/8"Sq Drive Socket - BMW MINI
The oxygen sensor on any car has to cope with an extremely harsh environment exacerbated by the continual thermal cycling of the vehicle during its lifetime. Vehicles that are tuned usually produce more and higher temperature exhaust gases further straining the O2 sensor. Over time and exposure to the elements the O2 sensors are extremely difficult to remove. Not anymore! The Vecchio Engineering oxygen sensor socket (22mm) has a slot cut into the side enabling the O2 sensor wire to pass free and clear. It is compatible with any 3/8" square drive ratchet and has 6 sides minimising the chance of rounding off the hex on the O2 sensor. Another great feature and benefit of our O2 sensor socket is that should things get difficult and your O2 sensor appears seized; then the end of our socket is machined to accept another 25mm socket, enabling a large breaker bar to be used. We advise plenty of good quality penetrating oil is used to aid removal. Going at it like Rambo will not help matters; take your time, care and use caution!
When reinstalling a new or used O2 sensor use Copaslip on the threaded part of the sensor. It is imperative only a small amount is applied to the threaded part and nowhere else! This will then greatly help future maintenance should you ever be required to repeat the job again. This is a great additional to any keen mechanics toolbox and will be invaluable when you have to replace your manifold or the O2 sensor itself.
