Genuine BMW MINI Oil Dipstick - Cooper S
Due to the late development of the more powerful Cooper S model based on the already launched MINI One & Cooper, engineers at BMW eventually managed to extract more power form the car by essentially bolting on a supercharger, not forgetting a whole host of other engine internals to support this modification. With the new Eaton M45 supercharger in place this now meant the MINI’s oil dipstick hole was in the wrong place! Not wanting to go through the timely and expensive hassle of recasting the block; the dipstick and tube was simply routed through all the available gaps. Consequently, the dipstick is forced through many twists and turns eventually resulting in its failure. If you are one of the lucky ones when it does break it can be easily extracted. If however you are not, it can culminate in a large labour bill to remove the remnants of the old dipstick. We suggest inspecting your dipstick and if there are any signs of cracking replace it immediately! For the cost of a new dipstick it’s simply not worth the risk. An extremely common problem and annoyance for MINI owners everywhere!
